The world’s first network email was sent by engineer Ray Tomlinson in 1971. Ray’s email to himself: “something like QWERTYUIOP”.
The message, via Internet precursor ARAPNET, traveled mere inches to an adjacent computer, but it changed our world forever.
Ray said he invented email "mostly because it seemed like a neat idea."
